India Ink on Rice Paper
14" x 10"
Original Sold 2013
This beautiful butterfly visiting an aspen tree was made with Chinese calligraphy brushes on traditional rice paper. Two simple strokes were used to create the butterflies wings and detail was added for the body and antennae. The atmospheric perspective and fragility of the butterflies wings were easy to accomplish by adding water to the ink and using a grey color instead of only black.
The Chinese chop (or seal) at the bottom was carved and stamped with a red ink and was made to specifically represent me as an artist like a signature we use today.
This photographic print of the original drawing ships unframed and in a clear bag and sturdy photo mailer. The 11 x 14 Inches size comes with a 16 x 20 Inch Mat for a frame.
